About Isha Yoga Center – Dhyanalinga Temple
Shri Sadguru has consecrated a powerful energy form at the Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore and it is known as the Dhyanalinga Temple. At the Isha Yoga Center, there are 2 consecrated Kundas, Chandrakunda for ladies and Suryakund for gents. First, a devotee should take a dip in this Kunda for at least 5 minutes. After taking a deep in the holy water, visit Shri Linga Bhairavi Temple, do offerings, sit for a while and then visit the Dhyanalinga Temple. Dhyanalinga is a powerful energy form which is a huge Shiva Linga. It is a powerful energy form designed by Shri Sadguru especially to make devotees meditative. Dhyanalinga is a Live Guru, and devotees get an opportunity to meditate in the presence of a Live Guru. This helps the spiritual seeker in a great way. Dhyanalinga is open to all, people from all religions can visit this temple and be meditative. It is a profound meditative space where a devotee does not require any ritual, prayer or worship. Inside the Dhyanalinga Dome, just sit on the floor, close your eyes and meditate for at least 15 minutes. Take part in the Nada Aradhana, which is a musical offering to the Dhyanalinga. It is offered twice a day during morning and evening sandhya kalas. A spiritual seeker should make use of this meditative space and experience the way this energy form connects with your life energy. So anyone who visits the famous Adiyogi statue, take more time and do visit the Dhyanalinga Temple. Take Dhyanalinga darshan, do offerings and be meditative naturally. Dhyanalinga Temple is Shri Sadguru’s blessing to this world. Thanks for everything Shri Sadguru.

Isha Linga Seva Program Review
I did online registration for Linga Seva from 13/05/2022 to 22/05/2022 for 10 days. I received registration confirmation within 5 days over a phone call. My confirmed check-in date at the Isha Yoga Center was 12/05/2022 and check-out was on 22/05/2022.
This was my first visit to Isha Yoga Center Coimbatore. I stayed there for 15 days. First 8 days I booked an Isha Nadi Cottage and for the next 7 days, I booked Isha Brahmaputra Cottage. I did not use their free dormitory service. I preferred a comfortable paid stay at the Isha Yoga Center. During my Linga Seva volunteering I stayed at the Brahmaputra Cottage.
My Linga Seva started on the 13th of May 2022. On the first day, I attended the Linga Seva orientation program at 1 pm for 45 minutes at Sadhana Hall 1. I attended the second Linga Seva orientation program at 7.45 pm for 45 minutes at Sadhana Hall 2. After that, I attended the Bhakti Sadhana Orientation program at Linga Bhairavi Hall at 9 pm for 30 minutes.
For this Linga Seva, our program coordinator was Shri Dhanesh Anna. We were a group of 11 participants, 6 gents and 5 ladies. From our group, Ms Puja and Mr Akash volunteered to become group coordinators. I will love to mention the remaining names here, Chandrothaya akka, Nandhini akka, Sneha akka, Sanjay anna, Sridhar Anna, Gregor anna, Harry anna and Aadhya anna. I will also share my observations related to fellow participants. Pooja akka, Sridhar, Sanjay and Akash anna were youngsters and did Seva with enthusiasm and the highest effort. Gregor, Harry and Aadhya anna were foreign youngsters and were highly devoted towards the whole process compared to me. Honestly, I want to acknowledge this quality of theirs, they had changed their dressing style and habits according to the requirements of the program. They were so committed to the Seva and deeply devoted towards Shri Sadguru. Chandrothaya akka, Nandhini akka and Sneha akka were elder than me and did all seva with complete involvement despite their health issues. I was so inspired by their joyfulness, hard work, commitment and devotion. I wish to be devoted like my fellow participants someday.
On the second day, the 14th of May 2022 we had to practice complete silence for 24 hours. The silence was practised from 14th May – 4:00 am till 15th May – 9:00 am. I practised 24 hours of silence for the first time in my life. It was an afferent experience for me. Practising silence means, not talking to anyone, not using mobile phones and having no eye contact with anyone. We were told to walk slowly, looking at the floor. If communication was needed we were told to use hand gestures at the Biksha hall. This is how I attended the whole day program on the 14th. The day started with Guru Pooja at Sadhana Hall 1 for ladies. After that, I did my Yoga practice. At 10:00 am had a healthy Brunch at Biksha hall. I attended Naad Aradhana at 11.45 am. We did Prithvi Prem Seva from 12.10 pm to 2.00 pm. Then we had a break to have Kanji. After that, we were told to be around the Dhyanalinga Temple and do Bhakti Sadhana till 7.00 pm. We had dinner at Biksha hall by 7.30 pm. We attended one more Orientation program at Sadhana hall 2 at 7.45 pm.
Tips – Keep wrist watch with you during this program. Carry your yoga mat and water bottle with you. Keep a backpack with you. you can carry fruits, dry fruits and healthy snacks in your bag. You will have to keep your use of mobile very minimum. You will be allowed to keep your backpack and other stuff in a common and open space. Do not keep any valuables, mobiles or bank cards in these bags. You need to walk barefoot for these 10 days. Wear pure cotton clothing for comfort. Gents will have to wear cotton lungis compulsory. Take your medicines on time.
I will share my experience related to Prithvi Prem Seva which I did on the 14th maintaining complete silence. Prithvi Prem Seva started with a walk right after completing Naad Aradhana. We had to walk from Dhyanalinga Temple to a Field. We started our walk around 12.10 pm and reached the field by 1.00 pm. Our program coordinator Dhanesh anna guided us in this Field. The afternoon Sun was very very hot and we had to work in this field from 1 pm to 2 pm. In that field, some type of vegetable was grown. I do not remember its name. That green vegetation was grown specially to maintain soil quality and to get good crops. Black pipes were laid vertically inside this green vegetation. We were given the task of pulling these black pipes from the field and rolling them and keeping them on the sides. I had seen a Field for the first time in my life. I worked in the field for the first time that also on a hot summer afternoon. It was very tiring. It felt like a torcher. I was barefoot. my feet were hurting because the mud was hot. There was no cap on my head. It was a hot sunny afternoon. I was sweating, I was hurting. Honestly, I felt like running away from that task. But looking at the other participants, I managed to complete this task. I got too much tired after doing this task. My clothes got dirty after completing Prithvi Prem Seva. We were 10 volunteers doing this task. One farmer was there with us and he guided all of us to carry out this task carefully. We completed this task by 2 pm. It was a kind of hell-like experience for me. The purpose of Prithvi Prem Seva was to enhance our connection with mother earth and the surroundings. The pain and hurt that I experienced during this seva opened my eyes and heart for the hardworking farmers. I realised that because of their hard work and knowledge, we get everything easily on our plates. We do not respect the food which we get on our plates. I salute the farmer community for their hard work and their devotion towards farming. Farming is not easy, it requires hard hard work, knowledge, patience, faith and a deep connection with mother nature. In my opinion, farming is a kind of powerful spiritual sadhana. I realized that my body is weak, my tolerance is weak and my patience is weak. I realized that I need to work on myself to make myself strong. I am thankful to this program for taking me through this experience. It was tiring but effective. Thanks for everything to the farmer community. lots of blessings to you all. So, I had this question in my mind throughout the Linga Seva program. Why do we have to do non-stop work as Linga Seva volunteers? I found this answer when I read the DEATH book written by Shri Sadguru. It is written in the DEATH book that, to blow our karmic bubble thin, we have to stay in the consecrated space and do sadhana. To blow our karmic bubble thin, we must exhaust our body to the fullest by the end of the day. When the body is fully exhausted it helps in becoming meditative. The Linga Seva program is specially designed by Shri Sadguru. This Linga Seva program will assist us to blow our karmic bubble thin, will make us meditative and connect with the Living guru will be intense.
Tips – Read the DEATH book at least twice before you apply for the Linga Seva Program. It will help you to perform this Linga Seva consciously. When you feel completely exhausted, it will be clear why you are doing this. Do not try to skip any of the steps involved in the Linga Seva Program. Trust the process, trust Shri Sadguru. Each day and every seva is a small step towards self-transformation.
Tips – For Prithvi Prem Seva, wear cotton and loose clothes. Wear full sleeves clothes. Keep a cap or scarf with you. Carry a water bottle. If you have any health issues discuss them with the Program coordinator. Take a break if you cannot perform the Seva task. If it is not possible for you to do the Prithvi Prem Seva, sit on the side and just watch other volunteers doing the Seva. I think even witnessing the Prithvi Prem Seva will have a long-lasting effect on an individual. After finishing the tough task, take a small break, take bath, relax and go ahead with the rest of the Seva.
On the 15th of May, our Silence ended around 9.00 am. We had a meeting with Dhanesh Anna and One Swami. Swami guided us about the 8 days of Linga Seva and answered our questions. He gave a white cotton vastram to each participant, with a flower and lots of blessings. We had to wear this vastram every day for the Linga Seva.
Tips – This white cotton vastram needs to be washed every night. The pure cotton cloth is thin and soft. It dries easily within 2 hours if kept under the running ceiling fan. This vastram also helps to identify Linga Seva volunteers. You will receive respect and lots of love from devotees because you will be wearing this Vastram. That experience is priceless. Keep the Vastram clean and stain-free. Wear it every day for Linga Seva.
Tips – Dress code for Linga Seva – ladies can wear cotton sarees, kurta, salwar kameez and dhoti pants. Cover the upper body with the white vastram. Gents will have to wear white lungi and cover their upper body only with this white vastram. Wearing a T-shirt, shirt and kurta on top is not allowed for gents.
I did temple volunteering for 8 days, from the 15th of May till the 22nd of May. I followed Linga Seva’s routine which was as follows – Wake up time was 3.30 am, taking bath with normal water, getting ready by 4 am. I was staying at the Brahmaputra cottage, so I had to take walk for 30 minutes to reach the Dhyanalinga Temple. I used to reach there by 4.30 am. Because we had an opportunity of doing early morning meditation with Maa and Swamis. This 15 minutes of morning meditation was so peaceful. 4.45 am to 5.30 am was the time for us to do the Temple cleaning. Temple cleaning involved sweeping the floor inside Dhyanalinga and outside in the Parikrama area. Mopping the floor inside the Dhayanalinga dome and Parikrama area. Dusting walls and wooden panels. Removing used flowers, washing Urlis and shifting Linga Jyoti plates to the wash area. Cleaning and drying of mopping clothes in the wash area. We had to finish the cleaning task before 5.30 am. One of Swami performs Guru Pooja i.e. offering puja to Dhyanalinga exactly at 5.30 am. During Linga Seva, we are like helping hands to the Swamis or Maas who are in charge of the Dhyanalinga Temple. Linga Seva needs devotion, commitment and intense love for the Dhyanalinga.
Witnessing Guru Pooja every day was the highlight of the Linga Seva Program for me. I still remember those moments. The Dhyanalinga Dome is empty, it has minimum lights on. Dhyalaing is wearing Vastram and garland. the surrounding is cool and so peaceful. Early morning, Inside the Empty Dome, Dhyanalinga looks divine and feels intense. One swami performs guru pooja. We were allowed to sit behind him, looking at the Dhyanalinga chanting Gurupooja Mantras. It was so intense, the connection with Dhyanalinga is so intense. I am so blessed to witness this, I am so blessed to experience this. Those divine moments are just intense love for a living guru, Shri Sadguru, Dhyanalinga. I do not know how to write it down. I will do anything to witness this every day. Oh my god, that love is so intense. I do not know from where it is coming. It is there inside, it starts flowing when you are in front of Dhyanalinga. It is a unique experience. I will recommend doing Linga Seva at least once a year just to experience Guru Pooja. It is life-transforming. Yes, It is. Thanks for everything Shri Sadguru. Love u loads. Love u loads. I know I don’t deserve this. I am aware that I got this opportunity only because of your love for me. I am so blessed to have you by my side in every life. Thanks for everything. Thanks.
Tips – Do not miss Guru Pooja. Attend on time. Be there before 5.30 am, otherwise, you will not be allowed to witness it. Only Linga seva volunteers get the opportunity to witness Guru Pooja with the Swamis or Maas. It is a rare opportunity and the highlight of this program. Do not miss this blessing.
After Guru Pooja, 1st batch starts Linga Seva from 6 am to 8 am. 2nd batch starts linga seva from 8 am to 10 am. After Guru Pooja, we had a small meeting with the swamis to decide our batches and duties. One swami and 2 volunteers used to go to pluck flowers from the surrounding areas. One batch was always present doing seva inside the Dome and in the parikrama area. In between, we had opportunities to do our yoga practices. to go for brunch and dinner on time. We did not get any time in between to rest even for a minute. We had to offer seva inside the Chandrakunda, near Adiyogi, near the main entrance and at the washing area. It was compulsory for us to attend Naad Aradhana twice a day. We got an opportunity to offer Naad to Dhyanalinga using Singing bowls. It was an incredible experience. Offering seva in the Dhyanalinga dome and Parikrama area involved welcoming devotees, managing the crowd, guiding them and helping them so that each devotee can meditate inside peacefully. It is not allowed to talk inside the Dhyanalinga dome. It was a great task to maintain silence and peace, inside the dome when it is crowded with devotees. We used to offer seva in batches till 7 pm. After Seva from 7 pm to 8.30 pm, we had to do the same cleaning work again. Sweeping and mopping inside the dome and in the parikrama area, during, washing mop and so on. Every evening after cleaning work we had a meeting with Dhanesh Anna and swamis. We used to decide on duties and batches for the next day. After the meeting, we were shown videos related to Dhyanalinga and Shri Sadguru. This session used to end by 9.30 or 10 pm. By the time I walk to my Brahmaputra cottage, it used to be 11 pm. I used to get so tired every night. Still, I used to wash the white vastram. I had no time for my mobile. I had no energy left by the night. I used to sleep by 12 pm with the thought that I have to wake up by 3.30 am. Linga Seva is the toughest volunteering program. It leaves a deep impact on your life for sure.
Tips – We had to stand around the parikrama area, to help devotees, to guide them to the entry, light lingajyoti, offer lingajyoti, offer lotus flowers, offer dhoop, to apply vibhuti, sit and meditate, maintain silence, control kids inside the Dome, to take the exit, keeping them away from Panels, Jalaseema, Lingajyotis, Vanashree shrine, Shri Patanjali Statue etc.
Tips – You will get a food break, Kanji break, sadhana break and washroom break in between your Seva. Offer Naad Aradhana to Dhyanalinga at least once. Do not miss this opportunity.
I did Isha Inner Engineering and Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya initiation online, in the month of February 2022. After that, I participated in the online, in the grace of yoga program with Sadguru on Mahashivratri day. During this online program, while performing Pancha Bhuta Kriya, I experienced an energy blessing on my crown chakra. It was my first connection with Dhyanalinga, it was my first intense connection with Shri Sadguru. I felt so blessed. I wished to visit Dhyanalinga in person. So I decided to visit Isha Yoga Centre in May 2022. I had no one to guide me. So when I was on the Isha website to learn about the cottage booking process I learnt about the Linga Seva volunteering. I decided to register for it. And I am glad that I did this program.
This was my first in-person program and first volunteering experience at the Isha Yoga Center. Dhyanalinga darshan, everyday meditation, witnessing Guru Pooja, witnessing Naad Aradhana twice a day, welcoming devotees with a smile and eating healthy yogic food at the Biksha hall, everything was an incredible experience.
My connection with Dhyanlinga became intense every day. My Sadguru blessed my Sahastrar chakra through an online program. It was a life-changing experience for me. I decided to meet him personally. At that time Shri Sadguru was busy riding a bike for the Magical Save Soil Movement. There was no chance of seeing him or meeting him personally. I met Shri Sadguru through Dhyanalinga. He blessed me every day. I am not saying I had a pleasant experience every moment. Here are a few weird experiences which I had during my Ling Seva. On the second evening of Linga Seva, I experienced that each and every joint in my body was severely aching. I don’t know why it happened. It was very painful. Maybe Dhyanalinga energies were working on my energy body. I had a fever the next day. I managed these health issues with Dolo-650 tablets. During Linga Seva inside the dome, Every batch of devotees used to get 15 minutes to meditate. During these 15 minutes, I used to keep on looking at the Dhyanalinga. Many times it happened to like, I felt like the Dhynaling will fall on me or will suck me inside him. I used to feel balloon-type pressure on my body like it was pushing me away from the Dhyanalinga. I used to love meditating in front of Dhynalinga. During Linga Seva only Dhyanalinga was my priority and that feeling was so great. I am blessed.
There is an intense experience which I had on the 21st of May during Naad Aradhana. I am in my forties. I have irregular periods and when periods come they are painful and I have very heavy bleeding issues. I was waiting for my period for 2 months. I wished that periods should come after the Linga Seva program. I was doing Seva on the 21st of May. I started getting pelvic pain, during the Seva. I was not able to stand, still but I managed to complete seva by 7 pm. on that evening during naad Aradhana, I was looking at the Dhayanlinga, During the Pakhawaj play, I started crying, I felt Dhyanlinga is also crying, looking at me, like it was giving me farewell, telling me like, I will miss you too. I did not understand that moment why I felt like that. To put it in exact words, I felt like I am Dhyanalinga’s daughter who played around him for 7 days and now the father is giving farewell to me, telling me we are connected, I am there with you. Now you go. I went to the washroom after Nadd Aradhana, my periods had started. I informed the coordinators that I am not well and that I need to go to the room. I was not able to attend the last day of Linga Seva because of severe pain and heavy bleeding. I had periods after 2 months and it was very painful. I then realised Why I and Dhyanalinga were crying the previous evening, bidding farewell in advance. I am so blessed to have such an intense connection with Dhyanalinga. I have not seen or met Shri Sadguru personally. But our energies are in sync. I have a father or I will love to call him my mother, yes, I have a mother sitting in the Dhyanalinga Dome. It is my home where I can feel peace and contentment that at last in this life I found a home. My home. I am a woman, I don’t have a home, my parent’s house was never mine and I was taught to believe that my husband’s house will be my home, but that also never happened. But now I have a home. I am so glad to have this connection with Shri Sadguru. Thanks for everything.
Tips – At Dhyanalinga temple, Amavasya to Poornima group of Maas offer seva. From Poornima to Amavasya group of Swamis offer seva. Ladies are allowed to offer Linga Seva even during their periods.
Tips – If you have any health issues, inform coordinators in advance. And inform them if you are not able to do the mopping task. It is one of the most difficult tasks because you have to mop the floor using a cloth. I had pelvic pain and body pain issues, so I had requested our team coordinator that I will not be able to do the mopping task. So I volunteered to wash and clean Urlis every day and shifting of lingajyotis along with welcoming seva inside the Dhynalinga dome and around the parikrama area. I also offered seva twice inside the Chandra Kunda.
Volunteering experience with the Swamis was so peaceful. All the swamis work non stop whole day and night joyfully and peacefully. Swamis guided all of us through this seva nicely. They treated us with respect, patience and love. It was so inspiring and a good learning experience to watch them offering their seva with complete involvement.
Tips – Devotees can offer Jala and Milk to the Dhayanlinga on Poornima day. 15th was Poornima day. I got the opportunity of offering jala to the Dhyanlinga twice on that day while offering seva. I touched Dhyanalinga in those moments. It was a great experience. I am blessed.
Tips – Devotees can register and attend Pancha Bhuta Kriya offered by Shri Sadguru to the Dhyanlinga every Shivaratri.
Dhyanalinga is a living Guru. Dhyanalinga is Shri Sadguru. Do not waste time chasing Shri Sadguru. Visit Dhyanalinga temple and offer Linga Seva. Offer yourself to the divine and you will be divine in its presence. I will recommend the Linga Seva program to the seeker and to the devotee who aims for spiritual progress and wants to intense connection with his living guru. Offer Linga Seva at least once a year. It will slowly help us to blow our karmic balloons thin. It is designed by Sadguru, so it will result in deep inner transformation.
I applied for the Sadhanapada program in 2023. I am waiting for the registration confirmation. I am prepared to stay within the consecrated space, in the divine proximity of the Dhyanalinga for seven months. I am looking forward to it. At this point in my life, living a conscious life, living in a consecrated space aiming for spiritual progress, is the only thing now I am interested in. That effect Linga Seva had on me. In the past year since I completed Inner engineering lots of things have changed. In one year my life has completely changed. I am blessed. I am thankful, I am joyful and I have clarity about what I want for myself.
Thanks for everything Shri Sadguru. Thanks for everything Isha Volunteers.
