How To Use BPL Pulse Oximeter –

Press the On button.  Start the Oximeter. Press on the left side finger clamp to open the oximeter. You will see a red light sensor on the up and bottom sides of the oximeter. Put one of the fingers between these sensors of the oximeter with the nail surface upward, then release the clamp.  Within a few seconds Oximeter will show readings for Oxygen level, pulse rate and perfusion index.  For more accurate readings use the right hand’s middle finger.  Put dry and clean finger.  Fingernails should not have any nail polish or any other wet/dry chemical on them.  After reading the results, remove the finger and after 16 seconds it will be auto shut-off.  Keep the sensors clean and clean them with a dry cloth.  After use keeps the oximeter in the box. Replace batteries timely when battery indication is low.

I purchased a BPL smart oxy lite fingertip pulse oximeter in May 2021 through online shopping from Amazon.  The BPL oximeter was delivered in good packaging and in good condition within 8 days of order.  The Amazon seller has delivered the exact product as per my order. BPL pulse oximeter appeared not to have any damage or defect.  BPL smart oxy lite pulse oximeter MRP Rs.2999/- was mentioned on the box’s label. I had paid an Amazon price of Rs.2999/- with tax and free shipping charge.  I did not receive any discount from Amazon on this Bpl oximeter deal.

In this Amazon fingertip pulse oximeter review, I want to state that the latest BPL smart oxy lite fingertip pulse oximeter is a perfect gadget to measure the oxygen saturation level, pulse rate and perfusion index.  

This is May 2021 and Covid-19 double mutant virus infection cases are increasing in India.  So, to be on the safer side, I decided to order a fingertip pulse oximeter.  I had zero information about the Oximeter.  I have watched various Youtube review videos regarding different Oximeter brands which are available online.  The conclusion is that the BPL oximeter is more accurate, the built quality is high and also the price is also high i.e. Rs.2999/-.  On Amazon, various brands of Oximeters are available and prices start from Rs.799/- to range up to Rs.4000/-.  In my opinion, Oximeter reading accuracy is very important and it should work for a longer period with its high built quality, so considering these 2 major points, I decided to Buy a BPL oximeter.  BPL oximeter also has good customer reviews on Amazon App. 

My State is under Lockdown for the last 30 days due to the rise in Covid-19 infection cases.  In this lockdown condition, Amazon managed to deliver this order within 8 days.  I really want to appreciate Amazon’s door-delivery service during the Covid-19 pandemic.  The delivered package appeared not to have any damage.  The BPL oximeter was also in good working condition at the time of receipt and it did not have any defect or damage.

In the BPL’s box, I received 1 Oximeter, 1 String for hanging and a detailed instruction manual in English.  Oximeter features only one soft touch button on the front panel.  It comes with 2 AAA batteries which are in the battery slot on the backside of the oximeter.  These 2 AAA batteries can support more than 20 hours of continuous work.  The compact and lightweight design makes it easy to carry.  A hanging string is provided to hang the Oximeter around the neck. It will be very useful for the health care personnel who need to move around with the Oximeter.  The readymade string is very long and made of good quality material. The English instruction manual has detailed how to use directions, do’s and don’ts with regard to the BPL oximeter.

BPL oximeter power gets switched on when the temporary tape pasted on one of the batteries is removed.  It is operated on a single soft-touch button.  The compact design fits easily in the hands.  The self-adjusting finger clamp design allows for easy operation.  The BPL oximeter built quality looks superior.  BPL pulse oximeter is powered on by a soft touch of the button.  A finger has to be put inside the oximeter for about 21 seconds.  Within a few seconds, oximeter readings appear on the colour OLED display.  BPL oximeter shows an accurate reading of oxygen saturation levels in the blood, pulse rate and perfusion index which is related to blood pressure.

I liked its clear and large numerical display. The pulse rate ticking graph is shown which allows an easy understanding of the pulse rate.  It also has a beep sound feature that allows pulse rate reading with a beep sound, making understanding even easier.  I found it to be a very useful and interesting feature. I also liked  Its low battery and alarm indicator features.

It is easy to access the Menu, 1 long press on the On button will activate the Menu setting options.  It has 2 Menu settings, 1 is Remind Setup and the 2nd is Limit Setup.  A single long press gives access to the remind setup menu and 2 long presses give access to the 2nd limit setup menu.

Remind Setup Menu – This Menu allows Sound Reminder On/Off, Beep On/Off (for pulse rate), Demo mode On/Off, Restore Ok, and brightness adjustment from 1 to 5.  The downside of the On button needs to be pressed to navigate within the Menu options.  The long press allows changing the settings.  A long press on the Exit option allows opting out of the Menu.

Limit Setup Menu –  This menu allows to set of minimum and maximum limits of SpO2  and pulse rate.  A long press on the + button allows choosing between the + and – sign.  The + sign will increase the limit setup and the – sign will decrease the limit setup. The long press allows changing the settings.  A long press on the Exit option allows opting out of the Menu.

I have not been infected with Covid-19 to date.  I do check my oxygen levels regularly.  To keep fit, to strengthen my immune system and to increase my Lung power, I do practice Meditation, Walking, Surya Namaskar and Isha Simha Kriya every day.  I take Patanjali Giloy juice, Patanjali Wheatgrass, Aloe Vera and Amla juice every day. My oxygen on the BPL oximeter reads between 98 to 100 every time. My perfusion index is between 5 to 10% and my pulse rate is between 70 to 90 bpm.  At present, I am in a healthy state.  But in future, If I get infected by the Covid-19 virus, then I will be able to easily manage the quarantine period and treatments as well, as it will be easy to monitor oxygen levels at home, anytime, on my own.  BPL fingertip pulse oximeter is a very useful gadget in today’s pandemic time.  Keeping it handy will be in favour of the family’s health.
