What Is Isha Samyama Program?
According to Shri Sadguru the word ‘Samyama’ means – “ Samyama is a state where you become fully aware that you are not the body, you are not the mind, you are not the world around“- Sadhguru
Samyama is an intensive 8-day residential program conducted by Shri Sadguru at the Isha Yoga Center at Coimbatore. In this Isha Yoga Program, the participants spend 8 days in complete silence with long hours of meditation. It allows participants to free themselves from the bonds of karma and purify the system, opening them up to subtler realms of experience. The program presents the potential for participants to reach heightened levels of consciousness and experience explosive states of meditativeness in sadguru’s divine and powerful presence.
Isha Samyama Program Fees
Shri Sadguru and the Isha Foundation offer the Samyama program free to the participants. The participant is not required to pay for the stay and food for the 8-day long program.
Isha Samyama Program Prerequisites
The participant should complete the following Isha Yoga Programs to become eligible for this advanced program. Complete the Isha Inner Engineering program with Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya initiation. Complete the Bhava Spandana Program and Shoonya Meditation program. Complete Yogasanas Program. It will be helpful if you learn the Surya Kriya Hatha Yoga. The regular practices of all this Yoga is very very important for the participant to prepare for the Samyama program.
Isha Samyama Program Experiences
With Shri Sadguru’s grace, I participated in the Isha Samyama Program from the 6th to the 13th of January 2024. For me, the year 2024 began with an 8-day Shri Sadguru’s divine presence. I am so grateful to Shri Sadguru for the shower of his grace.
The 1st day Isha Samyama Program check-in process was very easy. For us, the program check-in time was from 6:00 am to 9:00 am. Before check-in, I was told to buy the medical kit for Rs.300/- from their counter. It had all the basic medicines needed for common ailments which a participant may face during the silence program. I paid Rs.2800/- in cash for the rental bedding from Isha Yoga Center. The rental bedding included a mattress with a white cover and a pillow. One white top bed cover and a white pillow cover. I had to go through the medical screening counter where I was asked about my current health issues. After completing this I surrendered my valuables and got the hand tag and the unique Samyama Number Card. My Samyama Number was 1102. Then my luggage was screened and tagged. Next, I went to the luggage area and kept my luggage safe. After that, I went to the Adiyogi Alayam Hall to receive my rental bedding. In that Hall, bedding was already placed on the floor. I had to select one and with the help of a volunteer, I tagged it with my Samyama Number. I folded it in half and kept it. I completed the Check-in process effortlessly by 11:00 am. Then until the first session which was at 3:45 pm I had free time to visit Dhyanlinga, Linga Bhairavi Devi and to do my practices.
For the next 7 days program was designed so beautifully for all the participants. After every session satvic food was ready. The washrooms were clean and had 24 hours of water supply. Drinking water was available at the counters. The Adiyogi Alayam program hall was kept clean, sanitized and vibrant. We had to do our extra practices outside the luggage area. The dining area had chairs set up and food was readily served. We were offered 3 satvic meals a day with morning and evening hot drinks break. The Satvic food included fruits, vegetable salads, sanjeevani drinks, sukku coffee and bajra millet porridge.
The weather in January at the Isha Yoga Center was very cool. And for 2 days it heavily rained making it more cold. The participants should carry jackets or sweaters, socks and gloves to keep themselves warm. For me, taking cold water showers in this weather at 4:00 am was a big task. But I managed it very well without having any cold-related health issues.
Every day the program session started at 5.30 am with Guru Pooja. We did not have watches so we didn’t know the exact time. We were following their instructions throughout the day and night. I think we were sleeping around 9.30 pm every night. In between the sessions, proper breaks were given for going to the washroom, doing the Yoga practices and taking rest.
Being in the divine presence of Shri Sadguru during the sessions was the highlight of this program. Sadguru’s absence was equally powerful for everyone. The Adiyogi Lingam in the Hall graced all of us every moment with its powerful grace. The Adiyogi Lingam and Shri Sadguru both conducted this program for us.
The Isha Samyama Program is systematically conducted following the 8 limbs of Yoga. The Yam, Niyam, Asana, Pranayam, Pratyahar, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. The 8-day program is conducted using the 8 tools of Yoga which gives results at the end of every session. After every session, I felt the intense and instant effects and witnessed the self-transformation. Shri Sadguru explains everything logically by making us receive what he has to offer in its purest form. Even if we are unaware of what will happen in the program, we end up transformed because of his grace. In the first 2 days my Karmic structure was dissolved, the next two days I was made aware of my Breath and the next two days I learnt and practised Samyama meditation. I came to the Isha Yoga Center in May 2023. With Shri Sadguru’s grace, Dhyanalinga and Devi’s grace experiencing the Samyama program made my stay here fulfilling. It was all worth it. I received what I had been longing for since my childhood. That is the living Sadguru’s grace and divine knowledge of Samyama’s path.
In my experience, This Samyama program was not free for me. I have given many lifetimes of my devotion to the Gurushaktis. I came to this program with the lifetimes of my karmic substances. This is my last birth. In this last birth, I am graced by Shri Sadguru during the Samyama Program. This program assured me that Shri Sadguru is there within me for the rest of this life and he will take care of my liberation. Shri Sadguru said about the Samayama program ” You Just Trust and Follow the Instructions, rest will happen. That’s what I did throughout the program and the Samyama happened. Now After the Samyama program also, rest of my life I am going to just trust and follow his instructions and liberation will happen.
I had many intense experiences during this intense meditation program. I will share all my experiences and learning in the series of posts which will be published one after another. If I include all the intense experiences here, this post will grow long. So I wish to post my experiences in detail about every aspect of the program through my future posts. Keep reading my blog for future posts. Here I have given my review of the basic structure of the program.
On the last day the program ended by 12:30 pm. We collected our valuables and we had a special lunch at the Biksha Hall from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. A shuttle bus service was available for the participants from the Isha Yoga Center to the Railway station, airport and bus station until the next day. Also the evening dinner and the next day breakfast was served at the Spanda Hall pavilion.
The program was organised perfectly and around 400 volunteers along with Maas and Swamis made this happen for around 3000 participants. It was so well planned. I am so grateful to Shri Sadguru for his grace and the incredible Samyama experience.
Thanks for everything Shri Sadguru. Thanks for everything, Maas and Swamis. Thanks for everything Isha Volunteers.
