This post is about my Samyama Meditation Program Experiences. This program was about learning the Samyama Meditation and practising it. I participated in the Isha Samyama Program from the 6th to the 13th of January 2024. I have shared my review of the Isha Yoga Program based on my personal experiences. Shri Sadguru says the ‘Samyama Meditation’ means – “ Samyama is a state where you become fully aware that you are not the body, you are not the mind, you are not the world around“- Sadhguru
At Shri Sadguru’s grace, we chanted the Shiva mantra for the first 2 days. This resulted in the burning of little of our karmic substance. It was a real and incredible experience to go through this powerful process. The next 2 days i.e. 4th and 5th day of the Samyama Program, Shri Sadguru made us aware of our breath. I have shared the details about my experiences in the previous posts. Do read them first to better understand the Isha Samyama Program’s effect. The last two days i.e. 6th and the 7th day, we learnt the Samyama Sadhana and practised it. Between the sessions, we had proper food breaks, drink breaks, washroom breaks and practice breaks.
Isha Samyama Program offers an exclusive opportunity to learn Samyama Meditation in the powerful presence of Shri Sadguru. The Samyama Meditation is a simple yet powerful process which will help to transcend human perception with regular devoted practice. With regular practice of the Isha Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya, I now experience the distance between me and my body and between me and my mind. When I close my eyes I feel that I am a Life occupying this body. If I have control over my thought process, the mind does not exist. I command the creation of my thought process. I cut the thoughts which I feel are useless and not needed. That much awareness and control I have now on myself. The next level is the Samyama Meditation.
The Samyama Mediation is practised in 3 steps. With the total awareness of the thought process, the total devotion and awareness towards the Breathing process and awareness about the world in which we exist. Shri Sadguru calls this BMW—practising awareness of body, mind and the world. With regular practice, I will experience in that one moment, that I am as a life will feel the distance between me and my body, me and my mind and me and my world. This process will help me to transcend as a life to the higher self or the higher dimension.
While learning about Samyama Meditation I realised that I as a life am connected to this body, mind and the world through the process of breathing. So breath watching is an important part of this meditation practice. With the process of breath watching, I will travel on this path and along the way I will realise the true nature of this whole existence. I am so thrilled to learn about this process. I realised during the practice that, with the strong awareness after regular practice, I will be detached from this body, mind and the world around me. That will minimize the negative effect of this body, the mind and the world on me as a life. Because I will have a better perception of life. That will be the real freedom. That will be the manifestation of the chant – Asatoma Satgamaya, Tamasoma Jotirgamaya and Mritorma Amrutam Gamaya. Aum Shanti Shanti Shanti.
I realised the importance of having a healthy physical body and the practice of sitting in the Ardha Siddhasana for long hours. I realised the importance of practising Hatha Yoga and eating yogic food as a preparation. This program needs a body which will not be a problem during the long meditation sessions. With the help of the support provided there, a person with no body ache issues and with the willingness to sit was allowed to practice the Samyama Meditation even throughout the night.
I wished to see my living guru and that wish was fulfilled during the sessions. I experienced the power of his presence and the power of his processes. His absence is more powerful than his presence. I wished for a spiritual connection with my Guru. I experienced it during the Karma process. I wished to experience the transfer of his divine knowledge, as life to life touching process I experienced during the learning of the Samyama Meditation. I am so thankful to receive the ancient and powerful spiritual knowledge of this divine meditation from Shri Sadguru. I wished for this blessing and connection since my childhood and it happened during this Isha Samyama Program.
Give yourself fully with devotion and trust to the processes which are offered during these last 2 days. The last stage of Yoga i.e. Samadhi can be experienced if you are ready for this to happen to you. Everything around you is set up in such a way that it helps you to fully give in to these processes. Shri Sadguru asks for trust and devotion during these 8-day program sessions. The person who truly wishes to experience the state of Samadhi with the grace of Shri Sadguru has the powerful opportunity to learn and practice it here, during this program. It is just because of Shri Sadguru’s love, devotion, and compassion towards us, that we get this opportunity. The opportunity to learn and practice Samayam Meditation in just 8 days. We are so lucky and blessed by him. I feel that my connection with Shri Sadguru is much more intense after this program.
After coming back from the Samyama Program I have decided to practice breath awareness and Samyama Meditation regularly. I wish to dedicate the next 12 years of my life to this powerful process. I wish to experience the Samadhi state one day with regular practice and devotion towards Shri Sadguru. I wish to sit in the Samadhi state for longer durations. Shri Sadguru has wished and blessed us with his love. He said you just practice it without doubting and without any expectations. What has to happen will happen. Just be aware and be willing to just sit. Do it regularly with devotion and the magic will happen. I trust him completely. I am going to practice Samyama Meditation regularly.
